Our Story
Legend has it, while driving past the sign for Sebago Lake State Park, a quick mispronunciation sparked a correction: “No, Sebago — like bagel.” And just then a lightbulb went off and the [sesame] seed of the idea for Sebagel was planted.
From pop-up to brick-and-mortar, we couldn’t have done any of this without the support from folks throughout our region willing to give something new a try — and to the many many other small businesses in Western Maine who offered us help, advice, and support along the way.

Winter & Spring 2024
In January 2024, we started baking out of the kitchen at Poland Provisions in Poland, ME (thanks Sheila and Charley!). We spent the winter and spring selling our bagels at Poland Provisions and doing small pop-ups at breweries, coffee shops, and restaurants around the area including Blue Jay Coffee, Naples Homeslice, Norway Brewing Company, Oxbow Beer Garden, and Standard Gastropub.
Summer 2024
Come summer, it was clear we were ready to take a leap, so we started a permanent pop-up at Lakeside Dairy Bar in Naples, ME (thanks Ross and Amanda!). Slowly but surely, our little table full of bagels started getting more attention. By the end of the summer we were selling out of 400-500 bagels a day!
Winter & Spring 2025
Next, we were busy pulling together a business plan and getting our new brick and mortar HQ up and running. Thank you to all our friends and family for their support and extra hands. Shout out to our lil’ Sebagel team who learned the ropes and are slinging bagels like they’ve been doing it for years.
Summer 2025
After a successful soft (but crispy) launch on Memorial Day Weekend, we’re excited for what the next few months will bring in our new home!
